At the end of the year, many BC residents take stock of what they have in their homes and decide to let a few of their old kitchen gadgets or appliances go. This can be to make room for gifts they’re hoping to receive this holiday season or just to finally clear up that counter space so they can cook and bake to their heart’s content.

Recycling Large Appliances

Large appliance recycling includes residential fridges, freezers, washers, dryers, oven ranges, and dishwashers. We accept these large appliances free of charge.

For commercial customers, we accept walk-in coolers, walk-in fridges, and commercial air conditioners. Due to the size and labour required to process these commercial items, we charge a nominal fee of $25 for the recycling of each of these large appliances.

Large appliances can be recycled at four of our BC recycling depots, Vancouver, Richmond, Abbotsford, and Cloverdale. We appreciate your understanding, as we cannot process large appliance recycling at any of our other depots.

Is it possible to look at the old fridges you have to see if there’s a door handle that matches mine and then purchase it from you?

Hi Gail. We’re sorry, once we take an appliance in to the depot from a customer we can’t allow other people to access it. They are all packaged up and sent to the Steward for them to break down and recycle.
