Are you doing home renovations this year? There’s nothing like seeing your vision for your home come to life. Whether it’s a kitchen remodel or repainting the kids’ room, you’re going to end up with materials that you need to dispose of. Many British Columbians don’t know that they can recycle renovation materials. Read on to learn which materials we can accept at our depots!
What home renovation materials can be recycled?
Recycling Paint
We can recycle a wide variety of paints. Such as interior and exterior, deck and floor coating, concrete and masonry paint, marine paint, swimming pool paint, empty paint containers, and many more. Follow this link for a detailed list of what can and cannot be accepted at our depots, and please keep in mind that all paint must be in original containers with secure lids and their labels.
Please note that not all of our Regional Recycling locations accept paint anymore. You can recycle these items at our Abbotsford, Cloverdale, Nanaimo, Whistler, Richmond or Vancouver locations.
Recycling Appliances
Kitchen remodels often mean that you have to figure out how to get rid of your old appliances. Taking them to the garbage dump is expensive and terrible for the environment. Instead, you can bring your household appliances to one of our depots, and we will safely break down and recycle them at no cost to you! We can even take care of donating gently used appliances. We can recycle fridges, stoves, blenders, toaster ovens, coffee machines, mixers, deep fryers, and more! Some larger and industrial appliances require a small deposit. Follow this link to learn which are at no cost or a small cost to you.
Recycling Scrap Metals
Renovating homes, especially the old Vancouver-Specials, often means pulling out old pipes, wires and electronics. This can create a large stockpile of materials that you need to dispose of. Skip the garbage dump and see how you could earn money from recycling renovation materials.
Scrap metals are a hot recycling commodity and can put cash in your pocket. We can accept non-ferrous metals, that is the type of metal that contains NO steel or iron. These include copper, brass, stainless steel, insulated wire, aluminum and zinc. Follow this link to learn how to earn cash from your next renovation!
Renovating your home can be friendly to the environment and your wallet.
