Are you holding a bottle drive for your school, team, or another cause? Now you can earn more by also collecting milk containers. Milk cartons, jugs, and tetra packs are all included in the universal recycle return program. You can earn 10 cents for each of these containers—no need to separate them from your other empties. Simply put them in the bags along with all the other containers that you’ve collected, and they’ll be processed the same way. Donate your milk cartons to a good cause with Depozip

Now that you can recycle milk containers, your opportunities to donate to your favourite causes have just expanded. Did you know that Depozip allows customers to set up an account for a cause they care about, and the public can donate their returns? Or in turn, you can select from the list of fundraising accounts and donate your return to one that already exists. This ability has been set up at no cost to the public.

Understanding the different milk containers you can recycle

We can recycle a wide range of milk containers. This includes dairy milk cartons of all sizes, both the tetra boxes and the plastic milk jugs. The same goes for plant-based milk products, such as almond milk, soy milk, cashew milk, and the many variations available at the grocery store. The milk products you recycle must be ready-to-drink products; this excludes items such as baby formula, coffee creamers, whipped cream, or meal replacements.

When dropping off your milk containers, you can use our service and include them in your bag of unsorted empties. You’ll receive the same universal return price of 10 cents per container.

When did this program start?

This new BC Recycling program began on February 1, 2022. This means that containers with a best before date of February 1st or later can be included in this recycling program. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any containers with best before dates prior to this. We appreciate all of our customers being mindful of this date requirement.
