Cassie + Friends is our Charity of the Month.

Meet the charity working towards a pain-free future for kids living with juvenile arthritis and other rheumatic diseases.

The Porte family works tirelessly to transform the lives of children and their families living with juvenile arthritis and other rheumatic diseases—born from the unfortunate discovery in 2006 that their daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, the family has made the best from a tough situation. After seeing the struggle that families were going through, they started Cassie + Friends, and we are beyond pleased to announce this incredible organization as our Charity of the Month.

Cassie + Friends has humble roots, with Cassie’s Dad running a marathon and growing the fundraising efforts from there. By 2014, Cassie + Friends had contributed over $400,000 to complete the Ross Petty Research Chair in Pediatric rheumatology at the University of British Columbia and BC Children’s Hospital. After years of seeing the lack of resources for parents, they started Canada’s first Parent-to-Parent Support Program for JIA and other rheumatic diseases at BC Children’s Hospital.

This incredible non-profit has raised over $3 million, to date, to support the local community and is not planning to slow down any time soon. They have recently launched a Virtual Education Series to bring expert information from pediatric rheumatology experts directly to families across Canada. It’s through programs like these that the brave kids living with these diseases and their families can attain the support they need to make each day just a little bit better.

If you’d like to help us raise funds for Cassie + Friends, then you can donate your bottle return one of two ways.

  1. Drop of your recyclable containers in one of our donation bins, located within our mainland locations.
  2. Donate your return via the Depozip webapp. Cassie + Friends is featured charity. Visit our website and review the How To Donate video for clear instructions to donate online.
